St.Paddy's Day

As the saying goes "There are only two types of people in the world....The Irish and those who wish they were  Irish!!! So with St.Patrick's Day fast approaching myself and Val wanted to share some outfit ideas with you. But before we do we would like to talk a little bit about the color green, and why we wear it on St.Paddy's Day.

There are many reasons for the color green; green is the color of the shamrock, green is the color of spring, and green is the color of Ireland's lush landscape, hence why it is known as the Emerald Isle . However, my favorite explanation for wearing green on St.Patrick's Day is a bit far fetched, but you know us Irish love our folktales. According to Irish legends, St. Patrick's revelers thought wearing green made them invisible to leprechauns and fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see (anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those who didn't wear green as a reminder that leprechauns would sneak up and pinch green-abstainers!! So be sure to wear your green!!

Green is also a good color to wear to improve your mood. Green is linked to emotional balance, harmony, love, acceptance, peace and calmness. Another thing to note about the color green is that it is associated with the heart chakra. A balanced heart chakra means expansion, freedom and growth. Green symbolizes, creativity, health, abundance and nature. It is the combining of yellow (soul) and blue (spirit). Green, nature's color, offers new energy and revitalizes tired nerves. So as you can see, there are endless benefits attached to green, even on an ordinary day!

Now lets get to the fashion!!!Of course growing up in Ireland 'La Le Padraig' (paddy's day) was a big celebration and always an excuse to buy a new outfit! Whether you're going to the parade, on a pub crawl, or to a fancy evening event, we have put together an outfit that's sure to make your friends green with envy!

The first look that we would like to share with you is a casual look. In Ireland this would be typically worn during the day to the parade. Something stylish, yet very practical for a long day on you're feet. However, in Ireland you would need a big winter coat too! As much as we love Ireland we certainly don't miss the weather!!!

This next look is quite popular in both Ireland and San Francisco! Last year on Paddy's day, I saw a lot of people dressed in Leprechaun costumes here in the city! Some people love any excuse to put on a costume, as we say in Ireland, 'Its great Craic'! Contrary to how this saying may sound its actually loosely translated to 'its great fun'!

For our final look, we've put together some Paddy's Day party dresses! Its probably the look that I'm going to go for, I have a slight dress obsession!! For a modern take on the traditional green St.Patrick's day dress, why not mix it up with a little lime green, we love the lime dress shown below.
